Spirabilis was a collaboration Chris Perry and Cathryn Dwire of Pneuma Studio, along with Justin Snider, that was featured in Elsewhere Envisioned, an exhibition held at GLOBAL Design / New York University. Spirabilis will also be featured in the forthcoming book Bracket Goes Soft to be published by Actar.
Spirabilis is a speculative project in which mid-century Soviet research on algae-based oxygen production systems is deployed to create a megastructure that can sustain life in otherwise uninhabitable environments. This structure could function as a small city, indefinitely housing survivors in the event of an environmental catastrophe.
